キャラクター転送のテストシャードが開始された事を受けての質問に開発陣が応対した。

Creating this post in the hope of forestalling hundreds of threads which I won't be able to keep track of :-) Those of you who take some time to try out the character transfer service on test, please let us know what you think! What's working? What's borked? What was hard to understand? What (if anything) did you like about it?

Question: Oh just one thing will the codes for the transfer be obtained through an automated system by using a credit card, making life much easier and quicker for us non u.s customers?
Answer: You will be able to purchase transfer codes online similar to the way game time codes can be purchased. I don't have any more specific information right now.

ゲームタイムコードを入手するのと似た方法でキャラクター転送コードを入手できるだろう。今現在は確定情報ではないけどね。

Question: Why is it necessary to supply our account password for this silly promo code?
What will the cost be?
When will cross account transfer be available?

Answer: We are keeping track of which user accounts receive which test codes. Hopefully, we'll never need to cross-reference that data with which accounts tested using those codes on test centers.
The cost is still not officially set.
Cross account transfers are not even on the radar screen.

回答:
キャラクター転送コードを受け取ったアカウントかを参照しているのさ。テストセンター上でキャラクター転送コードを使用したアカウント情報を相互参照する必要性はない事を望んでいるがね。
費用はまだ公式に決定してはいないよ。
アカウント間でのキャラクター転送は未だ有り得ない事さ。

Question: Only thing which made me a bit "Hmmmm", was that I had to delete a char on the destination shard.

Answer: Because of the way this process was implemented, there needs to be any empty slot on the destination shard for us to create the character there.

少しばかり悩んでいる事があるのだが、目的地シャードにいるキャラクターを削除せねばならなかったよ。
回答:
キャラクター転送の過程で実行されるよ、目的地シャードにキャラクター作成するには空スロットを必要とするからね。

Question: The first time it didn't log me out automatically.. and I had to start all over again. The second attempt un-bonded my horse. The third attempt on a different character gave me two error messages (client.exe) and shut down the whole thing. The fourth attempt logged me out properly and transferred my pets properly, but I can't use my packys now. They have no pack or the option to open their pack. *edit* Even the packy in the stable has no pack now. *edit 2* All my packys have no packs. The only way to access them is (if they're bonded) to say '____ drop'
Answer: Would you mind posting the name of the character where this happened? I can get the details of your transfer from just the character name. It would help in tracking down the cause of the problem.

1-自動でログアウトせずに再起動しなければならなかったよ。
2-馬がおきにいりじゃなくなるよ
3-違うキャラクターで試した際、クライアントに二つのエラーが出て全てがシャットダウンされたよ
4-適切にキャラクターが記録されペットも問題なく転送されたけど、今度はパックアニマルを使えなくなったよ。バックパック自体を失ったか、アクセスする為のオブションが失われてしまっている。
追記-厩舎の中のペットも同様にアクセスできないね
追記2-全てのパックアニマルがバックパックにアクセスできないけど、おきにいりなら唯一可能な方法は「*** drop」と発言する事だね。
回答:
このような問題が発生したキャラクター名を投稿してくれないかい?キャラクター名だけでキャラクター転送時の詳細が調べられるから、きっと発生原因究明の手助けになると思うんだ。

Question: do any items inside the unstabled pack animals transfer as well?
Answer: Yes, items in unstabled pack animals transfer. So the maximum number of items you can take:

15 - equipped items
125 - player's backpack
125 - bank box
125 x 5 -pack animals
--------------------
890 - total

厩舎にいないパックアニマル内のアイテムは転送されるよ。
だから転送可能な最大アイテム数は次のようになるよ。
15個 -装備品
125個 -キャラクターのバックパック
125個 -銀行
125×5個 -パックアニマル

890個 -総計

Question: I started in Test Pac and arrived in Test Atl with a broken packy. I can't get into the pack but he's still carrying because I'm getting "Can't Hold Any More" Answer: Just FYI on this one . . . this is something that got broken and fixed about 6 times during the development process. Apparently it's broken atm. I will take a look at this in the morning.

Question: the fact that you cant view what's in your packy to verify everything is there is slightly unsettling. You CAN see an item count on the packy tho which is nice.

Answer: You are supposed to be able to open your pack animals & browse their contents during verification. Whatever's making them be broken after transfer is probably the same thing that is preventing this.

Question: Since we cannot move stuff in the verification crates to see underneath then it makes no sense to bother asking us to verify, we can not

Answer: This is a valid concern. I assume we're talking about the equipment bag here, since the pet bag & stable are sorted when we fill them, and the bank box & backpack should appear exactly as you arranged them prior to the transfer. I will look into making the equipment bag sort in some useful way. (Of course, if that's NOT what you guys are talking about, please feel free to correct me.)

Question: No macros, no desktop. Let me also say as a thief, how hard is this, the disguise kit has had this problem since day one??

Answer: Yes, we realize this is a pain. This will probably not be fixed at the initial launch, since it would require a client patch. As a stopgap, I may bug Sannio to put together a guide on how to copy over this stuff manually.

Question: canceled out and that worked. Logged off and when I came back a quite relentless little box was still there. I forgot to check if I logged in a different char if I could transfer the char instead. But there needs to be a close button or something, it is a formidable process and users should have a close button to let them know it is ok to close and come back in.

Answer: A good point, and an excellent example of the "what is hard to use" category. I think we might be able to get this added. We'll see.

Question: The bold font at the end has the reverse effect from what you want, it is unreadable.

Answer: I kind of felt the same way. I will be harassing people to fix this with our next client patch.

Question: My red did not make the transfer. He got to Haven, got the message that you get if reds recall to Trammel, "Murderers are not allowed here, you are banished.." and crashed. Now I am blackholed, or the shard has crashed. None of my chars can login.

Answer: That's kinda different . . . will definitely give that a look in the AM. Er, later in the AM.

Question: I too had the problem with the character not logging out, but I was able to shut down my window using the X. When I logged back in the xfer had completed just fine.

Answer: Yes, I have noticed that the kick message seems to be a little flaky. Going to be looking into that.

Question: So this means that if my char has a nightmare she cant control yet, it will stay in the stable until her taming is high enough to control it?

Answer: Actually, I believe the intent there is concerned with available control slots. However, I know that we are calling a generic CanControlPet type function, which probably also makes sure that you have sufficient skill. I'll check.

Question: the pack horses were moving very SLOW after the transfer

Answer: Weird. We fixed similar problems with summoned creatures & golems, but this is the first I've heard about packies.

Question: If there was a way to use the SAME code or some sort of additional code/option for both shards between two characters, then they would simply flip positions.

Answer: This is actually a great idea. Definitely falls into the "future enhancement" category, though . . .

Unfortunately, it requires a shard restart of Test Atlantic to fix. The shard is coming back up as I type this. Also unfortunate is that it won't fix the broken packies when the shard comes back up. Test Pacific was unaffected by this.

Answer: EVERYONE is showing up in Haven when transferring from Test Pacific. People should actually be sent to one of the random start Inn locations unless you're red. I've fixed the problem on Test Pacific, but it also needs a restart to make this work. I'll probably just let maintenance later this morning pick it up

Question: When you try to close that little box that says "begin transfer". It does not close. Answer: This is by design. We figure that most people will enter their code & do their transfer immediately. For the small number of people that might decide they want to play some more on their source shard before completing the transfer, they can always drag the button off to the side.

Question: A friend of mine wants to know why it won't let volunteer characters transfer? Is this temporary? or volunteers won't be able to transfer at all, or they will be able to transfer but lose their powers?

Answer: That situation is a knotty problem -- volunteers have their powers on a per-shard basis. If they move to another shard, should their volunteer abilities transfer? At the moment, that would involve manual intervention. If we let them transfer and they lose their abilities without realizing that is going to happen, they are going to be angry, and we'd rather avoid that. Basically, we are sidestepping the whole problem by preventing volunteers from transferring.
