グレートレイクスの文献「A Disturbance in Yew」の紹介です。

これからご紹介するのはグレートレイクスのトランメルブリタニア城中庭にある「セバスチャンの質素な事務所」に安置されている書物のひとつだ。セバスチャン指揮するロイヤルガードがユーで遭遇したアンデッド軍勢との戦いが描かれている。
「ユーの騒乱」

私は新たに加わったユー周辺の警備に就いていた衛兵エリソンを招聘した。エリソン曰く森の見張りをしていたところ、彼の監視塔の北をアンデッドの大軍勢と奇妙な木々を目にしたというのだ。我々はエリソンの後に続き彼の監視塔へと向かい、更にユーに向かうべく北へ進路を取った。
我々はユーに辿り着くなり森の中で奇妙なポータルを発見するに至った。アンデッドの軍勢はロイヤルガード諸君の手によって直ちに葬り去られる事となったが、木々との戦いはより困難を極めた。「Vile Branches」と呼ばれる事となるその木々は猛烈な抵抗を見せたが、ロイヤルガード諸君が最終的に勝利を手にする事となる。
「Vile Branches」が打ち倒されるとそこには死者の姿が現れ、我々に意思疎通を試みてきた。そこで我々は彼とその仲間たちの蘇生を決意する事となるが、結局彼の蘇生は叶わず徐々にその姿は薄れ消え去ってしまった。
より多くの軍勢がこの戦場にいるやも知れないとの予感がした為、私は森へとロイヤルガードを派遣した。そして、「Vile Branches」とシュラウドに身を包んだ者が姿を現したのだ。
「ポータル」の存在が記されている事から古の種族エルフとの交流が始まる前後の事件なのだろう。日本地域ではブリタニア評議会とミーア族主導の元でポータル建造が行われたが、ここグレートレイクスではポータルの発見は全く予期せぬものだったのだろう。私はその戦禍の痕跡を求めてユーへと旅立ったのだが、そこで目にしたものは菌糸類に囲まれ揺らめくポータルだった。
A Disturbance in Yew

I summoned the guard as we were joined by Ellison a guard from the area surrounding Yew. While he was exploring the forests north of his guard tower he encountered a very large force of undead and some strange trees. We followed him back to his tower and marched north toward Yew.
We arrived in Yew and discovered a very strange portal in the forests. The undead were quickly dispatched by the guardsmen and women. The trees were a much more challenging feat. These "Vile Branches" as they were called attacked fiercely but the guard was ultimately triumphant.
As the Branches were defeated a dead figure appeared and wandered around clearly attempting to contact us. We attempted to resurrect him and commune with him. Eventually he began to fade a bit and then finally disappeared.
On a hunch that there may be more to this scene we had encountered I sent the Guard out to search the forests for any indication of where the undead, Branches and this shrouded figure came from.
