石炭の増殖不具合は遥か昔に修正済（Silvani）

質問）
石炭から黒染桶が作られたなんて噂が嘘だとは知っていたし、今現在は石炭を鉱石と混ぜ合わせる事で増殖させることなんて出来ないと認識していたんだが、100%の確信を持てずにいたんだ。
確信を得させてもらい感謝するよ！
ところで石炭は今現在も「Newbie」属性のままで、すぐに腐敗してしまうものなのだろうか。或いは腐敗の危険なしにロックダウンして公開できるように変更されたのだろうか。

97年に配布されたクリスマスギフトの多くは「Newbie」属性であり、石炭も従来通りの「Newbie」属性と推察すべきだね。「Newbie」属性のアイテムは地面に置くと60秒間で腐敗してしまいロックダウンする事もできないから注意して欲しい。

かつて新規キャラクター作成時に得られる衣服や武器、道具類は今現在もあるブレス属性同様に死亡しても死体に残る事がない代わりに地面に置くと瞬く間に消え去ってしまうという特徴を持っていました。そのような経緯から同様の特徴を有するものは初心者（newbie）属性と呼ばれています。この属性は実際にアイテムに表記される類のものではありません。
I knew the rumour bit, and I was pretty sure about the combining, but wasn't 100% sure.

Is it still newbied and decay or safe to display openly?

I know that the majority of the old 97 holiday gifts were “newbied” so would have to safely guess that the coal is still newbied as well. Newbied items decay in about 60 seconds, and can not be locked down. So please be careful.

石炭塊はその後のパッチによって（確か色鉱石が導入された際なのだが）、少なくともその時点では石炭と通常の鉱石を混ぜ合わせる事で石炭由来の鉱石を増殖させることができてしまっていたんだよ。更にこのパッチ以後は石炭からその色を引き継いだ石炭インゴットと呼ばれるものへ溶解する事ができ、作成した防具等にも反映する事ができていた。今現在も石炭と通常の鉱石を混ぜ合わせる事が可能か否かは知らないがね。
石炭は黒染桶（black dye tub）の原型となるアイテムを生み出したという「噂」もあった。しかしながら、これは当時のオフラインエミュレータのひとつであるFuseを用いた不正行為によって作成されたのだという事実を隠蔽する為に流布された都市伝説に過ぎなかったのだがね。この不正行為はすぐに修正を受けたけど、生み出されたアイテムはゲーム内に取り残される結果となった。それで後に正式導入に踏み切ったという経緯さ。

石炭を通常の鉱石と混ぜ合わせる事で増殖させる事は今現在は不可能だね。これは遥か昔、少なくとも6年以上前には修正されたはずだ。
ご指摘の通り黒染桶の作成に石炭が用いられたという経緯はなく、単なる噂に過ぎないね。
A Lump of Coal was turned into just "Ore" with later patches (specifically the one that brought in all the current colored ore) and until that point (at least) could be combined to make more Coal. After that point, it could be smelted into Coal (Iron, but still Coal colored) ingots and crafted. But I'm not 100% certain onn if it could still be combined.
It was RUMOURED that it was used to create the original Black Dye Tubs, but that is a myth used to cover up the fact that the Dye Tubs were created by using Fuse (an offline emulator at the time) to hack the game. The hack was quickly patched and fixed, but the items left in the game and later re-released.

You can no longer combine coal (ore) with normal ore to create more. This was fixed a very long time ago, at least 6+ years.
They were not used to create the original black dye tubs however, that is just a rumor.
